The hot phase has started and guess what – I am having another flu. After the whole family already went through fever and coughing, runny noses and glowing cheeks – mine just started last night – prima!
Anyway, I am happy that the most important parts of the move are already settled. You wouldn’t believe how many things have to be taken care of.
We sold our car, found a tenant for our flat, settled the legal details with HDB and an attorney while our absence, got insurances, X-Rays, Medical examinations, Visas, FedEx boxes, mobile phone subscriptions to cancel, a new passport for Rudi, letters from all my previous employers, translations of documents, HR letters, booked flights, booked hotels, settled the carpark cancellation, terminated insurances, bought new maps for the GPS device and many more little details.
At the same time there have been a few chicken pox cases in Rudi’s school – so we had to keep him home in order not to risk an infection and then quarantine at the Australian Immigration. Naura has had double stress since – taking care of a very adventurous 2 year old and selling stuff on ebay, clearing cupboards and wardrobes, ironing and managing the rest of the household. Just imagine you are packing one box in the living room and the little one is busy unpacking the previously wrapped bundle in the kitchen.
It’s definitely a lot of stress and trouble. After all, you are leaving behind what you’ve built up with your own hands in the last years – but at the same time this eerie vibe of excitement is swinging in the air. It’s a feeling of eager anticipation and a little worry as well.
Today is Thursday and we are right in front of our last weekend in SG for a while – funny thought.
I’ll get another Tea.
